Amidst of some intense procrastination and exams-denial, we found ourselves on the porch of Liza’s Meeting Place, a cute little coffee shop in Dorp Street, Stellenbosch.
I enjoyed a berry smoothie and am rating it 10/10 – a definite yes from me. The menu has a wide variety of breakfast options, light meals and more. The prices are reasonable but perhaps a little out of reach for the average student’s budget. To give an idea: the price of a cappuccino is R24 and a meal for two people, with drinks included, can be covered by approximately R200. Still worth it for a “treat yourself” kind of day.
Liza’s is also a great place for getting some work done as the environment is rather peaceful and quiet, especially when you sit inside instead of outside, where the bypassing cars may be a bit of a distraction. Free, fast wifi is available.
The interior is simple and beautiful – white wooden tables, fresh flowers and a seemingly recurring green theme.
While the shop is located in possibly the busiest street in Stellenbosch, it is a bit too far from campus to serve the purpose of an in-between-classes-coffee-break type of coffee shop, largely aimed at students.
Nevertheless, a Saturday brunch gem.
